The Study to find the Operation Statuses and Improvement Points of IRB in Korea

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was conducted to find the operation statuses and improvement points of IRB in Korea.
For this study, the questionnaires were delivered to the administrative personnels of 259 IRBs and the response rate was 41.7%(108/259).
IRBs having competitive responsible administrative personnels were relatively small(41%). The negative evaluation of IRB activity was higher(60.94%) than positive evaluation. The familiarity of IRB regulations was relatively good(60.18%). The education of IRB was not tried in 55.6% within 1 year. The fee for IRB judgement was not paied in 82.3%. Holy orders were the majority of ethics expert in IRB. The positive answer rate for central IRB usefulness was 62.1%.
From this study, the following facts were pointed out to revitalize IRB of Korea. 1)The improvement of IRB administrative personnel’s speciality 2)Further consideration of the responsible organizations for sustaining IRB 3)The security of financial resources for IRB 4)The setting of comprehensive IRB.
